If you don’t have a “junk email” account, consider getting one. Setting up a separate email account – one that you will check maybe once per week, will help you when you sign up for all those freebies that you see on facebook and on freebie websites. Those freebies are great, but you’ll end up on a TON of email lists by signing up for them! A junk email account can save your sanity while you get free stuff, and in effect, save money.
Sign up for all your freebies, etc. (like the ones I tell you about on facebook, for instance) using that email account. If you haven’t figured it out already, you should be aware that signing up for freebies almost always puts your email address on an email distribution list. If you don’t want to be bothered with all those solicitations from that company, just use your “junk email” address when signing up.
But the best reason to have a junk email account is this: You know for sure that you won’t begin receiving emails from other companies just because someone sold your email address to someone else. If your junk email address is shared with other companies, you won’t care, because it will just go to an email address you never actually read anyway.
