Hello! My name is Quincey! I am the wife of Mr. Awesome, homeschooling mom of 3 {ages 3-13}, and I blog over at A Slightly Better Wife. There are so many amazing benefits of homeschooling. We’re in our 3rd year of officially educating our two oldest children at home and I can say without a doubt one of my favorite bonuses to homeschooling is Quality time together!

why we homeschool quality time the frugal homeschooling mom

Aside from things like doctor’s appointments and meetings, we ordinarily do things at our own pace, and on our own schedule. Homeschooling has allowed us to slow down and enjoy life a little differently than we have in the past.

I’m not stuck only getting a few hours with my kids in the evening in between homework, sports, dinner, bath time, and bed time. I’m getting hours upon hours with my kids. From sun up to sun down we’re together.

Now I often hear other non-homeschool moms say “oh there’s no way I could spend all day with my kids”. People, despite what you may think, this time together is a blessing. You too can grow to love the time you get with your children.

I love that because we homeschool we can take advantage of traveling on week days when attractions are less busy. We can have more quality time visiting places, going at our own speed, and not feeling rushed by the crowds.

My husband works for a wonderful company that gives him ample vacation days, so on our field trip days he’s often able to tag along with us. That just adds to more quality time as a family!

We can spend an hour or two exploring the library, rather than just making a quick stop to exchange books/DVDs, because we aren’t on a rigid schedule.

With some careful planning, the kids and I are free to use our time how we’d like, and it has been so enjoyable to set our own schedule and take advantage of the time we have with our littles while they’re still little!

In our “free time” we love playing board games, doing crafts, building things out of blocks, and whipping up some treats in the kitchen.
