Daniel and the Lions’ Den: A Preschool Lesson on Character Traits

Description

Teach a beautiful lesson on character to your little ones through the story of Daniel!

This character education lesson identifies important character traits, and explores each trait, both positive and negative, as related to the story of Daniel and the Lions’ Den. This important lesson is sure to engage your little learners with a fun memory game and many options for coloring! This is one of the lessons included in the full Preschool Bible Curriculum (growing bundle, to be completed soon).

Daniel was a man of his faith. He was brave in the face of danger and trusted God would take care of him. Daniel was not afraid to be punished for following God’s rules and keeping his relationship with God healthy through prayer. In the end, we read that God protected Daniel from the lions’ mouths.

The whole chapter of Daniel 6 is a great resource when talking to your children about character traits. There are positive character traits and negative character traits present in the story. It is important for children to understand that sometimes there are bad people in the world but we must stay true to God.

Spend a few minutes with your child, age 3-7, talking about good and bad actions that they have seen or maybe exhibited. Make sure to categorize the actions so your child is clear on actions that you want to see again and others that you don’t want to see again.

How to Use:

1. Read the Bible verse aloud and explain to your child what it means to you, and how it relates to the story of Daniel and the Lions’ Den.
2. Read and talk about the character traits on the posters. Share other examples that relate to your child. You can hang the posters for future reference.
3. Play the memory game to practice what these character traits mean.
4. Complete the name practice/tracing papers to strengthen fine motor skills and practice spelling your child’s name.
