Hey, there! My name is Deana Hipwell. Welcome to my little blog about frugal and free homeschooling printables and resources, coupon tips and tricks, and homeschool family freebies. I am “The Frugal Homeschooling Mom.” I started this blog in February of 2009.
I’m having the most fun teaching my oldest child, Laynie (6th grade) at home, and as cheaply as possible. Up until this year, I have homeschooled my two youngest as well, but this year they are going to public school and preschool. Lily (5) is attending Kindergarten, and Liam (3) is attending preschool. I miss them being at home with me. But this arrangement is a temporary solution to my need to work more so we can afford some much-needed home improvements this year and – GASP! seriously, y’all I know it’s a shocker, but – I just can’t do it ALL! I desperately needed help, and I’m grateful to have the assistance with their schooling this year, during this season of long work hours and no family nearby to lean on. We’ll make it through!
I am a happy stay-at-home – and work-at-home! –), homeschooling mom.
I’ve been living the “frugal life” for over 8 years, having quit work in 2008 as a Master’s level public school teacher to stay at home and homeschool. I am first and foremost a blogger, but also I enjoy ghostwriting, content writing for other bloggers and website owners, graphic design and therefore I am also a Virtual Assistant. For 8 years we lived off of a combined income that was less than I made as a teacher. Times were tough. This blog is the result of all I’ve learned through those years.
I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my family. For me, being a wife and mommy is the greatest joy on earth. It’s really all I’ve ever wanted to be. And homeschooling is what I feel God has called me to. I tried working outside of the home and I was miserable – my heart’s desire was to keep my home and be with my children. I may one day go back to working outside the home, but for now, this is where I am meant to be.
I enjoy bringing you information that may support you as you begin homeschooling your own children or that may help you live an abundant life on a not-so-abundant budget.
