These are a roundup of some frugal homeschool family events at stores near you, and I’m sure you will just love them! Most of them (if not all) are FREE! Some are frugal, and some are listed because of their educational value! I hope you see some things you and your kids will enjoy!
*Always check your local store or venue to make sure it is participating in the events.*

Check out the upcoming homeschool contests!
Yep, that’s right, contests that your homeschooled kiddo can enter to win cool prizes, or just bragging rights. Check them out on the Homeschool World website. Coming up:
Home Depot Kids’ Workshops
At The Home Depot, on the first Saturday of the month, there is a kids’ workshop. At the workshop, kids are given the opportunity to build something fun, for free. You must register ahead of time, at your local participating store. The one coming up for us is:
Pottery Barn Kids’ Weekly Story Time
Each Tuesday at participating Pottery Barn Kids’ stores, you can take your child to enjoy a free story time. You’ll receive a free gift after you become a “book club” member by attending five read alouds. There are occasional special themes too.
Lakeshore Learning Free Crafts for Kids
Every Saturday from 11am – 3pm, your child can make a cute craft at your participating local Lakeshore Learning store.
Barnes and Noble Public Events
There are free story times and lots of other free public events at your local Barnes and Noble store every week. To find your local store’s events, just click the link at the top right of the page that says “Stores and Events.” At my local store, for instance, there are book groups, children’s story times, and other holiday/seasonal/promotional events listed.
Bass Pro Shops Kids’ Activities
Your local Bass Pro Shop probably has free events for kids. They vary greatly by location. Check your local store to see what’s going on there. Our closest store is about an hour away from us, so we haven’t been, but I’ve heard these events are very fun.
Michaels Kids’ Club
At your local Michaels store, drop your kids off for a short 30-minute craft time while you shop, for only $2. Ages 3 and up are permitted, anytime between 10am – noon on Saturdays. Here are the upcoming crafts and events:
Williams-Sonoma Junior Chef Classes
Children ages 5-13 can enjoy cooking classes at your local Williams-Sonoma store (please note: some classes are for ages 5 and up, and some classes require a fee).
American Girl Store Events
Check the list of American Girl Store Events near you! There are all kinds of upcoming events that American Girl fans will enjoy – movies, crafts, snacks, and more activities are planned. Just browse the list and find what’s happening in your area. The closest store to our family is an hour and a half away. These are NOT often free, usually costing between $10-$50 per event, but it’s still worth mentioning and checking out every once in a while.
Let me know if you go to any of these! Send me a pic and I’ll post it next week!
