There are lots of places to visit for FREE in the state of North Carolina. And the places that aren’t free – there are some tips included in this post about how to make them as frugal as possible. Any of the following places would make great “field trips” for homeschoolers in NC!
These are just the few I’m aware of. If you know of any more, please let me know so I can add it to the list.
You can submit a frugal field trip here.
- NC Zoo – Rebecca (a site visitor who left a comment on the Facebook page) says, “Homeschoolers can go to the NC zoo in Asheboro once a year for free but you have to contact them in advance and let them know which day you are coming.”
- Reed Gold Mine – according to a reader, Rebecca, “Reed Gold Mine is free unless you want to pan for gold and that’s around $3”
- Historic Oak View Park
- NC Museum of Art
- NC Museum of History
- Museum of Natural Sciences and the NC Naturalist Center (Thanks, Becky!)
Help me add more! What places have you been on cool field trips in North Carolina? Please include tips on how you’ve made them FREE or FRUGAL as well! We’d love to know! Any secret “gems” that we may have never heard about as well!!
